I know it's the 5th but I have to key them in.
Every month, I do a Hangouts call with 2-4 other people. We debrief the previous month and set our monthly goals.
So here are mine for August.
Outcome: 3 new clients
- 3 strategic reach outs
- 8 introductions
- 6 meetings booked
I met with a mentor today. He gave me the best advice: just ask. I have the ability to just ask for introductions to ideal clients so long as I describe them well ("Do you know anyone who..?") and ask the right people. He's so right.
I'll start with 3 strategic reach outs (he'll be first) and we'll see how I go.
Manage my capacity
Outcome: Get better at scoping my weeks
- 100%+ hours completed / hours planned
- 0 hours "owed"
- 100%+ invoiced / expenses
I kept getting annoyed that I wasn't completing my planned hours. Until I ran the average. It turns out I've been scoping 45% more than the average actual hours from the past few months. What a blind spot.
Now I'm just treating that average as my fixed capacity. It'll be fine, right?
Outcome: Have a project plan for getting a book happening
- 4 hours of research
Yep, it's time to write a book. Which means I've got to figure out what that means. Perhaps I can do a research project through a university. Perhaps I can self-publish. Perhaps I can sell the book. We'll see, I guess.
