Someone gave "specifications" of 10x engineers a couple of days ago on twitter.
For starters, I hardly get into twitter arguments. I think most are dumb.
However, this particular issue got me really mad.
10x engineers know every line of the code that has gone into production. If a QA or support folks alert an issue, they know precisely where the fault (or bug) is and can fix the same in hours vs days
10x engineers can convert "thought" into "code" in their mind and write it in an iterative fashion. Given a product feature, they can write that entire feature in one or two sittings of 4 to 6 hours with a caffeinated drink without distraction.
10x engineers rarely look at help documentation of classes or methods. They know it in memory and can recall from memory. They write code at the same ease as writing English. No breaks, no pauce, just type.
That's comedy.
But he was defending his stance.
Someone made a comment on the issue that kind of explains it from a cultural angle. Something like, "picking or stereotyping who's good and not" is the norm in India that's why the guy is surprised at the backlash.
Then some Venture Capitalists were low key supporting the guy. And that makes me angrier.
They are great players/performers in every single field, industry and human endeavour. The Federer, Serena etc of this world. But the descriptions above at best suggests a cartoon.
I've worked under a CEO who thinks like this. They want their ideas to bring in the possible amount of returns in the least time possible. They see humans simply as an economic input and nothing more. And trust me, folks like that never give commensurate remuneration. They even owe salaries.
Cultural difference is one thing
Greed is another thing.

@seunoyebode I'm a junior dev but I can't imagine many developers can possibly know EVERY line of a codebase, especially a large one. And why stress about memorizing everything? One of the best skills a developer can have is being able to effectively Google things!
